Last Entry

This is it, my days at Tripod are a about to be a thing of the past.  Oh I'm not leaving forever, oh no.  I've just found a new home.  If you would like to know how to find it, send me and e-mail.  If you don't actually know me, leave me a comment with your e-mail (I won't publish it) and then we can all be friends.

I'm a little too paranoid to keep a blog that is my name, so it's time to move along.

But before I go, one last little post.

I could hear the Rolling Stones crystal clear from my living room last night !  It's going to be an amazing show on Sunday, I'm really excited !

That's it, that's all, basketball !

Goals

Based on Single Girl's blog, I'm going to make Wednesday my goal day.  This will make Wednesday's really special.  Not only will I blog, I will also be eating a great lunch.  Becaus it's What's For Lunch Wednesday !  That means that somebody makes lunch on staff.  In November it will be my turn so that will be a busy time and maybe I won't be able to set goals.  But we will see.

Anyway, here we go:

Mind - I will get all my correcting done.  Then my mind won't have so much to think about.

Body - Ride my bike at least three times.

Soul - Go to the Rolling Stones !

Fun - (I need a fun goal too)  Go to the Rolling Stones !  And maybe to Sasktoon, and celebrate Thanks Giving for the first time in 3 years and maybe go out two nights this long weekend.  So maybe I didn't actually need to make a goal, I think it will happen all on it's own :)

I can see that I'm going to have problems dressing this fall.  Since it became "no longer can I wear skirts and sandals" weather, I have realized that I might need some new clothes.  The clues ?  I can't dress like a 17 year old when my students also dress like 17 year olds.  It's not appriate for either of us.  As well, all of my clothes look old.  Why didn't I decide this one of the three times I went through my clothes last spring before dragging them across the country ?  I never like to get rid of things because usually it was a gift.  If not, I bought it and it was probably some where fun because I don't shop just for the heck of it.

However, I had a Stacey and Clinton moment.  I need a 5000$ VISA and a trip to NYC.  That won't happen.  I need to go to the Southland mall.

What really concerns me is the apparent style. I just don't agree with it.  All these skinny pants.  I want nothing to do with them.  I know exactly how they look on me and I don't like it.  Then there is the pant that doesn't have enough material.  To cover the leg.  Does anybody remember November to April ?  Wind chill ?   That is said to appeal to the masses.  I just think it doesn't look good.  Sorry if you like it.  I'm sure you are the exception and it looks fantastic on you.  You probably look even better when you wear it with tall boots.  Moving right along.  I did some internet browsing and I didn't find one single top that I like.  Not one.  They were all unappealing.

So what do I do ?  Where do I shop ?  Montreal friends don't even answer, it will just make me sad.  Just go and shop for me.  Not as in buy me stuff and send it to me, just take advantage of St-Denis or something.

Until then,  here's to hoping my pants don't fall apart.

All the cool kids are talkin' 'bout it

Grey's Anatomy.

First of all, since when is a prime time big ratings drawing show on Thursday at 7:00 pm ?  7:00 ?  I guess people must put kids to bed, others are eating, some people have lessons, and I had meet the creature night.

I had faith, faith that at least one tv station would be showing Grey's Anatomy at 9:00.  Maybe 8:00.  You know, prime time.  I threw a temper tantrum (ya, I know, I'm over 7) when I realized that I had missed it when I arrived home at 8:30.  I cried.  Really.  I mean I have been waiting for this television moment all summer.  Ya ya, I should have checked on this.  Let's forget that detail.

However, I am one lucky girl.  It is going to be on again tonight.  At 7:00.  But I'll let it go. I won't be home at 7:00, but I am sure hoping that I can figure out how to set the vcr and tape cable.  It will be a new experience.  Wish me luck on my quest.  Or tape it for me !  (A little late, any one in the East is already watching !!)

Polishing the Lagostina

I have a bad trait.  I try to do many things.  I shouldn't do many things while I have stuff on the stove.

Just last week I tried boiling water while biking.  That's right, I left the house with a pot of water on high.  D was the first one home.  Apparently two seconds away from a fire.  Aye aye.  Not a good seen.  The pot is finished.  Not good, but not the end of the world.  Not like I wrecked the Lagostina pot.

This weekend I left a frying pan on the stove.  It wasn't on high and I didn't leave the house.  But I did leave the kitchen and forgot to shut the heat off....  So now I am spending a lot of free time scrubbing the pan in order to bring it back to it's original state.  Because it's the Lagostina pan !  This is our version of crystal and china.

Thursday Thirteen

I don't think this will be a weekly occurence, but Jodi inspired me this week.  I don't really know if there is a specific theme that everyone is supposed to follow, but I will take Jodi's.  I like to be original ;)

 My favourite television programs

13.  Mr. Dressup.  He told me stories, showed me how to make crafts.

12.  Grey's Anatomy.  I get pretty excited about watching it, even though I have only seen about 3 episodes.  I plan on seeing more.

11.  Rumeurs.  I like it.  CBC is going to start showing an English version this fall.  Cancon people.

10.  Dr. Phil.  For life lessons.

9.  Carebear Countdown.  Everyday at lunch.

8.  What not to wear.  I occasionally hear Stacey's voice in my head.

7.  The News.  Without it, how would we know about all the bad things in the world ?

6.  Canadian Idol.  This season.  I think Eva is great.

5.  Law and Order.  All of them.  But mostly the original.  The classic format and it shows me lots of New York.

4.  Lynette Jennings Home.  I was into decorating when I was 11.

3.  Passe Partout.  Enough of my friends can have animated discussions about this show that it must have been great.

2.  Seinfeld

1.  Full House.  I loved it.  I would read the sentence in TV Guide every week to see what would happen, I taped it, I used to memorize dances on the show with my sister.  Infact I don't remember ever watching it without her.

random daily

So that furry creature, I haven't touched it yet.  But AB gave full approval of it's cuteness and it doesn't hurt me so I think it's staying.  It needs a name. Go nuts.

In other news, I'm very fatigueed.  That's right, it's all about the fringlish.

It was a long day.  Lunch supervision and no break.  It's not supposed to happen but it was reasonable that it did.  Another colleague had bigger problems than me not having a break.  I had a meeting with parents, picture day, a girl fell and really seemed to hurt herself and work was done in quite a few subjects.  I tutored tonight and it went well.  Those kids are worker bees.

Tomorrow I'm going to take my new two wheeled birthday present to work.  I'm finding it a lot of fun.

Oh ya, my staff is super in shape.  2 people ran the full marathon, I believe 2 more ran the half and one the relay.  It's a small staff, that's pretty impressive !

The kids wrote September 11th haikus.  Some were really good.  I'd post, but I don't think that would be a good idea.

 Bonne nuit.

Surprises

So D decided to break open the piggy bank and buy me a surprise.  I knew that the piggy bank wasn't that big so my expectations were't too high.

We I got home, I cried.  He bought a bunny.  My tears were not tears of joy.  You know how I feel about cats.  I'm not exactly a fan of all other animals.  I'm scared of squirrels and dogs are only okay. I was not a happy girl to see a bunny in my dining room.  I really don't know what he was thinking.  Apparently that it would be good for me to get used to animals.  We have discussed that from now on all life forms brought into this house should be brought in through at least consent and not surprise.

Will the rabbit stay ?  Who knows.  It doesn't have a name yet.

Best Intentions..

Went I arrived home from another fantastic day at the lake, I thought I might do some work so that I wouldn't have any to do today.  This intention was quickly taken over by the possibility of watching Hurricane.  I would have liked to link that for you all, but I just don't have that much talent.  Anyway, I figured I would go into work in the morning.  That way I could go to the lake in the afternoon.  But then I slept until 11:00.  So maybe I can work like super woman and see the light of day for half and hour before the sun goes down.  Happy Labour Day.

Update:

I meant to wake up at 6 to go to work early and prepare.  No such luck. I don't know how to set alarms.  I woke up at 7:45.  That's about the latest possible time I can wake up in order to be on time.  Everything worked out in the end AND I was well rested.  Wahoo !

Memories...

I had forgotten that having your own classroom in this city is a full time job.  By that I mean that you sleep 2 hours less a night and work most of your waking hours.  Or you worry about it the hours that you don't work.

But seriously, my class is really nice.  I don't mean the walls, I mean the kids. They're smart and nice.  Even the one that is supposed to be evil occasionally smiles when I tell him to stop talking.

No more talking at school, just work.  It will be much better for me that way.  Maybe someday soon I will post about something else.  Wouldn't that be nice ?
